Miles

I've never paid much attention to the number of miles I ride on my bike, but I took a look yesterday, and I've ridden over 3000 miles for the 2008 season so far.

I had no idea that I've ridden that much. And that doesn't even count the times I rode without my cycling computer.

  1. Holy CRAP! I've put on about 2200 so far, and I thought I was training a lot. :) I didn't ride much in January - maybe you did those 800 miles in January?
So isn't this your 3rd serious season of training? Reading Joel Friel's Bible, it says it takes about 3 years of structured training to start seeing results. You're winning RRs and mixing it up in the crits pretty good now right? When are you moving up to Cat 3?

  2. My results are definitely better this year. I don't know if that's due to training for a few years, or the type of training I've done this year, or better bike handling skills, or a combination of factors. Whatever the reason, it's been a lot more fun to be up at the front of the group instead of the back. If I keep racing crits this year, I could probably upgrade to Cat 3 based on experience but I'm not sure I'd want to do that. I'd go back to being bottom of the barrel pack filler pretty quick.
Between 12/11 (when I started keeping track for the season) and 1/31 I actually rode 570 miles. I bet the majority of those miles were on the trainer.
