Honeymoon pictures

Finally, some pictures from our honeymoon trip. I put up an album of pictures here, but I'll post some (okay, a lot) here along with any stories that go along with them.

Christine is showing the quality of the silver-ish-ware at the airport. Our last US meal for a while.

I only include this picture because showers in France are horrible. This one's not bad, but there's still no shower curtain. In general, here are some "features" of a French shower: removable head with no function holder (so you have to hold it the whole time), no shower curtain so you end up making a mess as you fumble with the removable head, slow drain, barely warm water...

An alley in Old Nice

Not to be confused with Coca Cola

The coastline in Porto

Genoese tower in Porto

Lunch with a view

It's hard to see, but there's bolts on this wall. And it's right next to the beach. The whole wall was bolted with routes.

Ninja Christine protecting the Genoese bridge near Ota

This was one of two Genoese bridge in the area. Oddly enough, we were hanging out at this bridge for 15 minutes taking pictures and nobody else was there to bother us. Less than a half mile down the road, there were at least a dozen cars hanging out at the other bridge. I'm glad we stopped at this one and avoided the crowds.

I had a lot of fun playing with the different manual setting on the camera. Here I blurred the water a little.

Sunset from the patio of a bar in Porto

Now *that's* a large plant. This was outside our hotel room in Bussaglia. We kind of had our own backyard at this hotel which was cool.

This is the village of Girolatta. The neat thing about Girolatta is that there are no roads that go there, so you either have to get there by sea or by foot. It was kind of fun to hike for a few miles, still be relatively in the middle of nowhere, and enjoy an espresso and a pretty good restaurant:

We're just too cool for the room hanging on this patio in Piana enjoying the view

This was one of our favorite beaches: Plage d'Arone

This could be the best dessert ever. On the recommendation of our guide books, we had dinner at La Sud in Porto which is a restaurant that specializes in local fish. If it wasn't caught fresh that day, they didn't serve it. We were a little indecisive about which 2 desserts to try and then we found out that we could get a sampler of all their dessert for the 11 euros (which was less than the cost of 2 desserts anyways). Jackpot! It was soooooooo good.

This is the town of Bonifacio, built on the cliffs at the southern most tip of the island. The rock here is completely different than the northern part of the island.

Here's our hotel. Ours was the balcony on the left of the top floor. Nice.

The view of the port from our balcony

To break up a long day of driving, we took a side trip up the Solenzara River and it turned out to be pretty nice

Christine couldn't contain herself

If I had known I looked this cool, I would have picked up these sunglasses for my personal collection

Hello Alps. Very impressive mountains.

Here is part of the road to the Col du Galibier, one of the Tour de France's famous routes. Where's a bike when you need one. We wanted to rent bikes, but the bike stores were all closed while they took a break between summer and winter tourism. I'll have to come back so I can ride great climbs like this.

Maybe it's a good thing we didn't have bikes. It was *super* windy and cold up top.

The water in Nice is very blue

After France, we went to Toledo for a second wedding reception and my high school reunion. The runion was at the zoo. I have a picture of me on this same stone elephant.

And that's it...for now. Bored yet?
